[Club Wonderland: Alex] A posh Londoner, Alex is the son of a media magnet and heir to one of the most lucrative publishing houses in Britain. He is studying literature at an American university but spends most of his time wandering off-campus to explore the glitter and grime of the city. Drawn in by the neon glow and thrumming danger of New York City, Alex thinks nothing of chasing a mysterious woman in white through alleys and backstreets in hopes of a phone number and a kiss. She is not as naive as she seems, however, and once it becomes apparent that she swears allegiance to the Kingpin of Hearts, drug dealer extraordinaire, the air turns violent. Alex is left with only one way to survive the next twelve hours; to throw his lot in with half-mad girl with eyes like flint and a penchant for Victorian headwear. Together, they lie their way out of the Kingpin’s crime ridden chunk of the city (Club Wonderland to the natives) with nothing more than their wits, a deck of playing cards, and the desire to live long enough to see the sun rise.
